How many people still have this problem? I really wanted to buy this iPad but I just don’t know if I should or not.. it’s very tempting but I really don’t wanna deal with the white spot issues.

I don't think its worth worrying about. The thread linked below is worth checking out.

yeah idk, a lot of people have white spots on Reddit. I want to buy the pro 11 but idk if it’s too big or not (watching movies in bed etc holding iPad with one hand on my side)

In terms of physical dimensions, the 10.2" iPad, 10.5" iPad Air and 11" iPad Pro are all very similar. If you think the 11" is too big, then so are the 10.2" and 10.5".

If you're in the US though, the 2018 Pro pops up on the Apple Certified Refurb store for $549 every now and then, and it has the benefit of having quad speakers. There's fewer reports of bending on the 11 than there are of white spots on 10.5.

For what it's worth, I've got both a Pro 10.5 and Air 3 and neither have the white spot problem *knock on wood*.

I see, ok because I have a 9.7 and the way I hold it when im in bed is comfortable, I basically hold it with one hand when I’m laying down on the side. So Im hoping the 11 will be just as good as the 9.7. I would buy the air but don’t wanna risk getting white spots.

If you want an Air 3, buy an Air 3. Odds are it will be perfectly fine. If it isn't, Apple will replace it.

Exactly. When I had my 10.5" iPad Pro and encountered the white spot issue, I took it my local Apple store and they exchanged it out, no questions asked.

... so you’d mail it in.
Yeah but how long does it take for them to get the device then send me a replacement lol? I rather go in the store if anything then do that. But hopefully I don’t have to do that anyway.

I'm super annoyed at the lack of quality control of Apple products these days...My iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) which I bought back in 2017 started to show a white spot above the home button late last year. I had heard of that happening but I wasn't to blown away since I had couple years of use prior to it showing up. What really blew me away though was that the iPad Pro 10.5 (2017) I bought for my mom in Spring 2019 is already showing that white spot after about a year and I just noticed tonight that my dad's iPad Air 3 has the same white spot! His is also only about a year old too....so three iPads in my household all exhibit that annoying white spot! Do they know what causes it? I wonder if this issue is prevalent on the newer iPad Pros (2018-present) and if the new iPad Air 4 (2020) will be able to escape this. I just purchased an iPad Air 3 from BestBuy before they all disappear (I like the design a bit more than with no home button - and I like the headphone jack) but since seeing my dad's iPad Air 3 showing this same issue I'm thinking to return mine. Why pay so much for something you are going to have to get repaired? I have an old iPad Air 2 that has never had this problem and my mom has a iPad (2010) that also hasn't had it.

It would be convenient for other Air 3 users if you could post image of both you pro 10.5 nd Air 3 white spot, because I have read that the white dot which appears on Air 3 is comparatively lighter than the one on pro 10.5,

If you could post the image of pro nd air in settings menu with full brightness white background..

PS- i don't have either of the devices but still makes me furious, how apple people turn the blind eye on such a known issue once the warranty ends

just yesterday I replaced my Air Gen 3 at the Apple Store. White spot appeared a week ago. To be honest, I only noticed it when scrolling a page with an off white background. Smaller than the size of a pencil eraser tip, not well defined. Kinda fuzzy. I actually thought it was just a dirty screen.

I had an appointment, masked up, had temp check, walked in, 5 min later walked out with replacement. No questions, small banter talk with emp. I don’t have apple care. I think there might be something to the rumor it may be a battery issue. He said they don’t even run diagnostics on the issue anymore.

How old was your original Air 3?
Any idea of manufacturing date?

Just trying to figure out if it happens only in early 2019 units?

I purchased in Sep 2019. I think these were released in March of 2019. I don’t know the build date. Warranty expired early Sep, 4th or something like that. They still honored it.
