Hi, When I am charging my Ipad air 4 let's say 80% after manual restart it's showing 84%. Today I charge it up to 94% but after the restart, it showed 100%.
Please can anyone who has air 4 try this experiment with his\her own unit? So I can understand whether it's a software issue or hardware.

Thanks in advance.

Its just the device remeasuring the accuracy of the battery capacity.

The charge percentage is an estimation based on various factors. It’s normal to show different data when you restart the device.

But it means that I actually charge more than I want to?

Not always the case. As I said, it’s an estimation, so either way you’re not sure which one is showing you correct data. Don’t stress much, the battery takes case of itself based on the voltage and available flow of current. So disconnect when you feel like you’ve charged it enough.

Ok thank you. I was concerned since I wrote Apple about this issue they said that I need to factory reset it and if after resetting it remains same that means that it is problem and I need to call them.

They’re trying to eliminate a software issue. Factory resetting is an option if you don’t mind setting it up again. Better to give it a go, the OS might have the algorithm reset.

They are suggesting to reset it without recover from back up option( clean start) and if in that case problem remains call them

I’ve seen this happening on my XR and Air3 from time to time. It sometimes happens that the percentage goes up by one or two percent after I have charged it. I believe it’s part of a new method to dynamically gauge battery charge. It never happened in previous versions of iOS unless the battery was busted.

If you hook up your device to software like iMazing, you’ll see that there is a difference between actual charge and what the indicator is showing. Apple has always been manipulating the battery gauge. For example, when you fully charge your device it stays on 100% for something like an hour sometimes, which doesn’t really make sense.

I understand that but I am trying to keep battery health high and I am always trying to charge it uo to 80 percent but in this case it means that it's charging more than I want to.

Then charge it to 75% if that makes you feel more comfortable. In the long run, you probably won’t see a difference. The iPad is more likely to be damaged or sold before the battery goes bad.
