I can't wait to get my hands on this one. Anyone want to speculate about what the "October" release date will be? When we'll find out? Do you think they'll take preorders, or will it suddenly just be "available today!"? Perhaps it will be part of the inevitable iPhone event?

I know that no one outside of Apple can actually answer these questions. This is just for fun speculation while we all patiently wait.

My guess is that they will start taking orders on the day of the iPhone event, which will be mid October (let's say, Tuesday the 13th) and it will ship and be available in stores for the Friday of that week (16th).
 
Mid to late October is my guess too. Otherwise, Apple probably would have given a more exact date in the announcement, or at least said early October or something similar.

Before the iPhones launch? (Not that we know when the iPhones will launch.) :p

I will wait on sales to see if I really want an Air or not, as the value of the 256gb Air compared to the entry level 11" Pro is glaring.
 
Early October, otherwise Apple wouldn’t have added the text about iPad Air 4 not being part of the Back To School free AirPods promotion.
 
October 10, according to Weibo postings from some people who were invited to the Apple hands-on event.

That date is also shown on one of the simulated screenshots on the iPad Air product page.
 
21 October is figuring on iPad Air picture with text “upcoming preview“ maybe iPhone 12 release date

That's a Saturday. Odd release date...
 
As stated, the only people that know are those at Apple, and to be more specific, probably only a select few at Apple Corporate, not everyone at corporate knows and nobody at the Apple Store knows but I did find something odd yet interesting, US Retailer Adorama is showing a ship date of 9/30, now I have no idea where they got this information from or if they’re guessing but we shall see this week. I personally think it would be bad for Apple to release the iPad Air and iPhone at the same time as we are all in uncertain waters and having people spend all that money all at once would be iffy but we shall see. I placed an order with Adorama, then cancelled it ... I became convinced that the September 30 ship date was wishful thinking. I guess we'll see.

Adorama also listed September 30 as the ship date for the $329 iPad. I think 9/30 just a placeholder until they know for sure.

Adorama shows a ship date of October 31. Proof they don’t have a clue on the real date.
