I just got my air 4 yesterday and upon applying my ESR tempered glass protector, I had a ton of screen response issues. It went away once I removed it, but I can’t really find much issues with these and screen protectors. Is it possible somethings off with this ipad? ESR is a pretty popular brand and I’m using one on my iPhone as well without any issue

Edit: screen is defective, still having random touch response issues and noticed another issue shown in the video below

I’d strongly recommend to swap the protector if the iPad itself is working fine. Of course, double check that the screen is as clean as possible.

I think the iPad itself is defective

even with minimal pressure on the front or back, the top left corner of the screen goes white. Even just tapping the screen lightly.

I might just go for the 8th gen iPad, I was already uncomfortable with how easily flexible the body was and now this issue as well.

Yes, just get the 8th gen iPad at this point.
It’s a shame, I love the design, the larger screen and better speakers. But I take this with me in my lunch bag to work at the rail road. I don’t think this thing will survive being bumped around much.

Got a good video of what I’m talking about. Pops up in the same spot even if I’m pressing a few inches away and it’s very light pressure

Unlimited558, why dont you give the Air 4 another chance and exchange it for another one with Apple. I have the Magic Keyboard as my case, and a Moko one before and carry it in my bag all the time and no issues with durability or the screen etc. Its up to you of course, and the Ipad 8 is a great Ipad, but you will be missing out on the Air 4 and all its splendour.

I might as I’m still using it now and still enjoying the screen and speakers.

but stock is very limited so I might have a long wait ahead of me to get another one shipped. It’s a tough one, first one i get having issues and matching complaints other have with this current design.

That is not normal. I would definitely return and purchase a new one.
Yea definitely not keeping this one lol. Thought if it’s a stupid long wait, I might just downgrade. I use my iPad everyday and my old 6th gen screen is smashed up pretty bad and barely useable.

I’ll find out tomorrow how long of a wait it is for a new air

At least put a smart case on the new one, so it doesn't get "smashed up pretty bad...."

Other one was in a case with a screen protector. Just a very unfortunate landing right on the very top edge, cracked the frame right at the antenna and shattered the screen under the screen protector.

Can you comment more on the flex issue? Is the body of the Air 4 "soft" and easily bendable?

It definitely appears to me, just put light pressure on the chassis and you can see the bend start. I obviously didn’t push it any further but it’s definitely not as rigid as my old iPad
