So now the new pro are announced I’m thinking of an update for my 2017 10.5” pro. I don’t really need the Pro I think tbh and I don’t personally see much between the pro and iPad Air for my use. I think the Air 4 is on a par on the 11” 2nd Pro?

So I’m now thinking of getting an iPad Air. My 10.5” has been great, just feel like an upgrade. Is the white spot still a thing (mine’s been fine) on these Air 4’s? I’ve heard/read differing things.

Also I can get the 11” Pro 2nd Gen 128Gb for £600, or the Air 4 256Gb for £620. I think the CPU is better in the Air compared to that Pro.

This would be new so would get a 2yr warranty, just wondering about issues though.

Thanks

I’ve seen complaints of backlight bleed, but no spots yet.

Ah really is that from new or later on ownership? Any links please?

I’d be disappointed if Apple hadn’t fixed the white spot issue, even though was never acknowledged, they must have investigated it, hopefully.

Looked on iFixit and looks like the logic board is on the RHS whereas the 10.5” pro was in the middle and rumours that something on this was getting overheating. All speculation though obviously.

Read that light bleed thread, is it worse than other iPads as this has been a long standing problem I think.

There’s also possible light bleed where the display power cable and logic board sit on the RHS of the Air 4. I had to get my previous one replaced because it was really noticeable in general use in the dark, but my current one is much better and I don’t really see it anymore so Im happy with it. So not to scare anyone off but going from the 10.5 to Air 4 won’t guarantee a issue free display if that’s a priority. Hopefully over time these displays can still perform well that’s most important.
