Any guesses as to what we'll see in this one, other than a new chipset?

iPad Air 5 was a large upgrade, so other than an M2 (Or even M3 if we are lucky) with the usual bells and whistles, and an upgrade to Thunderbolt and the usual Bluetooth/Wifi additions, I don't see what else they could include. And that would make it a relatively uninteresting update in my humble opinion.

Timeline wise, I think we'll be looking at October-November, or early 2024 if they drag the release due to a Mac M3 update in late fall. Which is also why I am hoping for a direct to M3 upgrade.

My prediction is that the iPad Air will finally get that face ID scanner that the Pro users have been enjoying for nearly half a decade, along with Pencil Hover. I wouldn't count on an M3, since the Air appears to have the last-gen M chip whenever it releases, while the Pro had the current-gen M chip both times.

M2 and 8GB is my guess, with the Mini 7 going to 6GB and A16 or a throttled A17. Can’t see a RAM increase so as to increase Pro sales when it moves to 16GB base.

I wonder if quad speakers might be more likely than Face ID. Not particularly expecting either.

It will probably get the same treatment as the M2 IPP, so just an upgrade to the M2 and maybe the pencil hover support. Will most likely remain on Touch ID and maybe slightly brighter screen (same 60hz refresh rate). I hope I’m wrong and it gets more from the Pro models though. The big question is if they finally give it 128 GB base storage.
