Hello! I’m not sure if this is the right spot to post this but I’m wondering if anyone has any experience with the back to school promo.

The situation is we purchased an iPad Air for school from Apples Amazon Store a couple of weeks ago. Now apple has announced the back to school promotion for free air pods. Any experience with Apple honoring the promotion for this type of purchase?

I got them to honor the deal for a Pro I purchased a week before the promotion started. Meaning I was still in the return period for that. If you're not in the return period, I would not expect them to honor the deal for you. Still, doesn't hurt to try I guess.

How did you get them to honor it?

I ordered my iPad Pro in early May but it hadn’t shipped yet. On Thursday I called Apple about the AirPods promo and they told me my order was too old to add the promo but I could still just cancel because it hadn’t shipped yet.

So I cancelled and reordered the ipad Pro with the airpods promo. I paid $99 to upgrade to the AirPods Pro.

The AirPods shipped that day and I got them in one day. Unfortunately, my iPad Pro shipment was pushed back a month, but I’m glad I could take advantage of the AirPods promo. I’ll keep using my old iPad until the new one gets here.

I know they honored purchases last year for those who bought iPad Pros within 30 days of the promotion starting… just doesn’t seem right to not honor a recent purchase hopefully they will

So far Apple chat support has been no help I’ve received weird messages from them that make no sense (and I have screenshots lol) then called apple support via phone and someone said “hello” on answer and then said “sorry we are in a training classroom this is apple how can I help you” not sure what’s up today with apple support never experienced this poor quality with their customer service in the past if anything they are always top notch.
It doesn't "seem right" to you because you want to take advantage of a deal that wasn't offered when you bought something. So that's not them honoring something, it's you asking them to make an exception so be sure to word it the way when asking.

Return it and then try to get it again through the school promotion.

I called them up after reading this forum, and they granted it. I pretty much think if you're in the return window they will honor this. It does not make sense from Apple's perspective to have you return and item and repurchase it. It doesn't make sense for anyone. They said they have a team handling this. Just call and explain. Obvi you had to have made an edu purchase on your iPad for this to even be an option.

I just called Apple customer service, they looked up my order and said “you qualify for the offer”, and are sending me a free pair. They were super pleasant about it even ?
