Right behind you
My daughters iPad Air is no longer charging. Tried cleaning the port, changing cables etc. The Air will usually charge believe it or not when it is powered off. In any event, I have already purchased a new 128gb iPad for her for Christmas but I was hoping to salvage the Air and give it to my son. Apple wants almost as much to repair as it would cost for a new iPad. Has anyone used a repair service they liked very much they could recommend?

Might be cheaper at one of the mall kiosks, but no guarantees on that. Seems strange it would just all of a sudden not charge anymore. Hope you get it sorted out.

Thanks :)
Has been having trouble charging for months now. I can't rule out any liquid damage as my daughter uses it exclusively. She is very good with her iPad and swears she never got it wet. I don't see any corrosion around the charging grid in the lightning port. If I play with the cable, I can sometimes get it to charge, or more bizarrely, turn off the iPad while the cable is still connected, and the iPad will charge.

Yup, same here with my Air 1. The only way it will charge is if I go through this particular routine ........

Lay it flat, plug the charging cable into the iPad *only, lift up on the cable right where it enters the charging port, then plug the other end of the cable into the charger that’s already plugged into the wall, wait until it says its charging *both in the middle of the screen icon *and up in the right hand corner icon, continue to keep the cable end lifted up and slight an object under the cable end, let go and wallah! ‘Simple as that’ :(

Been doing it that way for months. No other method will get it to charge, ya, I’ve tried every suggestion on the internet *except, as you have mentioned, trying to charge it when it is turned off, I’ll give that a go just out of curiosity.

Otherwise it still functions just fine. After a long, long, wait, I finally got to purchase the new Gen 3 version 12.9 :) It won’t replace it completely but instead will become my daily user while the ol’ Air will relegate to ‘occasional use’.

Wow, Ok, I tried your method, and the iPad does charge if I add a slight incline to where the cable enters the lightning port. Congrats on the Gen 3 Pro Purchase. The new Pro's are simply gorgeous and fantastic to hold. Ill be replacing my Gen 2 next year.
