iPad Air ethernet/no usb hub?

Hi,

I've got an iPad Air and would like to connect it to ethernet but would like to do so without the usb hub.

Is it possible to use the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter -> USB to Ethernet Adapter -> lan cable
while at the same time charging the iPad via the lightning port from the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter?

Has anyone try this before?

Yes, this should be absolutely fine. I haven't tried it myself, but that's how all those bits and bobs are meant to work!

Maybe someone who's got this setup could confirm?

Not sure about the air as has ios 10.

my ipad 3 does not work like this.
the camera kit will only allow a usb keyboard or a flash drive with a DCIM folder to work in the usb port.

I do not have a camera kit for my fiancee air 2 as the one we have is not ios 10 supported.
So I am unable to test this for you.

yes on apple website it stated with usb hub and never mention anything about simultaneously charging with lightning cable.

yes it does:

I've done both versions of the camera kit with Ethernet (I use a Belkin 10/100 model that you can get at just about every Target and Amazon for <$20) and it works great with my iPhone, work iPad Air 2, and personal iPad Pro (12.9). It was recommended as it draws much less power than most other USB->Ethernet adapters on the market.

The nice thing about that particular Ethernet adapter is that with the old camera kit (that was only a USB-A female port), no extra power is required so it's great for field use. Using that adapter with an Anker gigabit Ethernet adapter required a USB hub. The same is true with the newer camera kit (Belkin doesn't need extra power, but plugging it in will charge the iPad; Anker needs power to work).

I've just made the purchased on both the Apple ethernet to usb and the Lightning to USB 3 Camera Adapter. Tested on my iPad Air 1st gen and iPad Pro 12", all working fine.
