I have a large hand-written note in Apple notes on 5th Gen IpadOS 18 IPad Air that I want to export. Apple notes fails to save to file or print as pdf. When I click these options in the share menu, Apple notes freezes and nothing happens. Saving as image saves a blank image. Lagging during writing is also a problem in this note.

How do I export this note?

Lagging during writing is also a problem in this note.
To stop the lag, you have to split the handwriting section by putting in regular text (a period is fine) and then starting a new handwriting section. It gets laggy and hot and drains the battery when any single handwriting section gets too long. Example:
___ Start handwriting ___
(draw draw draw...)
___ End handwriting ____

. <- insert regular text

___ Start handwriting ___
(draw draw draw...)
___ End handwriting ____

...

Other option is to make 2 files and try that way.
This is probably what you need to do. You can select a bunch of writing with the lasso tool, copy it, and paste it into a new note. Then you can erase it from the original note. Repeat with sections until the notes are a manageable size.

For future notes: use Goodnotes/ Notability. I have a 1500 pager over 2024 (each page unique, hand written) and it works perfectly.
