hi,

Quick one I thought id throw out there for you all - I recently repaired an iPad Air for a client. Everything works fine except hes just called me today to inform him that when he puts a case on the rear of the device the auto-lock is activated! Has anyone heard of this before? He said that everything works fine and he can just take the lock function off that works with the case but I like to see if anyone else has experienced or heard of issues with the auto lock/wake function in a case on the Air.

He says it wasnt like that when he sent it, but obviously it wouldnt have been tested for this function when it left us..

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers in advance :)

What kind of case? This feature requires a magnet that is aligned and in the right place with even the correct polarity. If this case only covers the back, this would be strange indeed.

Im not sure - my initial thought was that it could just have been a cheap case, but he said it was working fine beforehand. He said he can use on of the magnetised opening flaps for the front but cant have one on the back! Im completely at a loss with this one

I have not been inside an Air. BUT, in your repair did yoiu have to remove the magnets that operates this sleep feature. Is it possible, if you did, that you put the magnets back in the device backwards, reversing the polarity?

this is one thing that I thought of - I didnt not that I remember - its a possiblity though I suppose as mistakes happen!
