iPad iPad Air2: Looking for Shell (No Cover) with Wide Lightning Port Opening

I am looking for a case/shell with a back and side protection without a cover (but perhaps one that allows me to use an Apple Smart Cover) with a large Lightning port opening - big enough to allow me to plug in Apple's 30-pin to Lightning adapter into it.

This requirement (along with no front cover) has eliminated every case/shell I have found. Is anyone aware of one?

This is the one I'm using. It's open on the bottom and top. If you're ok with that it's a good back she'll or case.

Nice! Thanks for the recommendation. Does it appear to be sturdy enough to at least offer some level of drop protection?

That doesn't allow you to use a Smart Cover though.

Well I've obviously not had a chance to test it. It's made of polycarbonate so probably is as good as most other similar covers. To be honest I don't think there is anything out there that gives you really good drop protection except for maybe the tough cases but they aren't what you're asking for.
