I have some delicious wireless Sennheiser phones, whose (radio based) base is currently plugged into my Airport express. I stream to them via my Mac, and I was wondering if an iPad could do the same over wifi? Can the iPhone for example?

It still looks like the Apple Remote app will let you stream to the Airport Express by using a computer that runs iTunes. There differently should be a way to stream directly from an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad but I doubt there will be for some time. :/

Actually, I found the answer: YES

Can't wait to walk around with my tablet watching movies and playing music in iTunes on my tablet, streaming to the awesome wireless Sennheiser over AirPort :D:D Gonna be the greatest media device ever!

I guess I wasn't very clear. Yes, I'm assuming it will work with the iPad like it does on the iPhone/iPod Touch. You can download that app right now for your iPhone/iPod Touch. I've had it on my iPhone since it was first released.

Direct Airport streaming from the iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad would be brilliant.

I use the Remote app all the time, but cutting out the middle man (i.e. the Mac/PC) would be great.

You can currently stream directly from the iPhone (and presumably the iPad) over bluetooth. I use the Blackberry Stereo gateway to stream to my little bedroom stereo. Only flaw is that you can't adjust the volume via the iPhone.

I agree direct streaming over wifi to an airport express would be great. Printing, too!

Of course i'm greedy - that ipad/tablet needs to sit in the lounge room like a magazine - and needs to multitask and stream music directly via airport express!

I was only joking about having printer support. But I'm just as greedy as you are for wanting the above :)

Printing from iPod

I saw a Brother printer today that says you can print pictures
from iPod. How? Not sure yet.

let me get this straight..

You want to walk around, iPad in hands, wireless headphones on, listening to music streaming from the iPad, through an Airport Express, over to the headphone base station, back to your headphones... just because you can?

I get Airtunes (have 2 Expresses primarily for that purpose, use it regularly) and I even get wireless headphones (although I never spent enough money to have good performance)... but seems like a lot of opportunity for quality loss and batteries to run down for something that normal wired headphones could do. I don't mean to be unkind, but seems like an overly complicated solution.

I guess if you want to put the iPad down (gasp!) and continue to listen to music, then it's nice...

Hilarious

I understand where you're going, but the idea of an iPad and wireless headphones does sound appealing. Though most likely we would prefer simply to stream from our iPad directly to a lovely pair of Sennheisers.
