Has there been, or has anyone thought of possible uses for the ipad in conjunction with appletv.

I've got a jail broken atv connected to a USB drive.I wouldn't mind being able to access the movies on there and watch in my bedroom. Possible?

Anyone think of anything...well...better

I sometimes use my iPad as a giant remote to control my :apple:TV. Usually only when I can't find the little white remote that came with it.

I would love to be able to access the files on the ext. USB drive connected to my :apple:TV also. Not sure how this would work, maybe a server app on the :apple:TV?

I would think most people use the :apple:TV to view/consume media vs. serving it up, so not sure how much demand there is for something like this?

Connect the USB drive to your computer and use AirVideo (and stream to your AppleTV).

I can't really syream from my mac to the apple tv from a drive. Basically the drive is old and knackered...about a 5 year old lace drive. So i get jerky video streaming, not helped by the proximity of my airport. if i plug it in i still get a little bit...only on files from this drive.

So basically its stuck in the apple tv, and need to access them from there, so it would be nice to connect to the apple tv through a server ap and play the files from there.

But i think there must be something more creative to do with atv and the ipad

If you aren't able to stream from your Mac to the AppleTV then what makes you think that you'll somehow be able to stream from the Apple TV to the iPad? If the drive is the bottleneck, it will still be the bottleneck attached to the AppleTV.

ignore what i said there, I wrote it in a rather confusing way.

Basically i can't stream video from mac to tv as the wi fi connection is poor.

So i need to stream from the hard drive plugged into the apple tv via the airport. Its a strong signal downstairs, so i can wander and still maintain signal.

On a seperate point....is there any way to kind of dual screen wirelessly with my tv and an ipad, through a jailbroken atv or not. Im just thinking that it would be useful to surf on my ipad with it showing on the tv. This sort of stuff probably isnt possible, but really the integration of products should be dealt with by now in my opinion. Web on a jailbroken atv is sheiser
