So I've been using the iPad a fair amount and I feel like my eyes are taking a little bit more of a beating than they normally do with my laptop. I researched it a little, and discovered that I'm holding the device way too close to my face. Check this article out:

Basically the closer the device is, the more your eyes have to accommodate and the more strained they can become. Just user beware, you may want to consider being conscious about how close you hold the iPad when you're using it for extended periods.
