As with anything I budget. Instead of just buying an app because it seems cool I'm going to put it on a list. Anytime I feel like I'd use the app I make a note of it. If after a certain period of time ( a couple weeks ) I realize I'd be using the app enough to justify the cost of the app then I'll purchase it.

In terms of budgeting I'll set aside only a certain amount of money each month to spend.

The benefit here is that by getting the 3G I'll be waiting for a bit and I'll get to see reviews of several of the launch apps before I even get my iPad. Giving me time to do some actual research as well.

It's basically just being responsible. I do this for all of my purchases. If I want something I put it on a list. I come back to that list whenever I want something. If I decide it's worth it I'll get it. If I put it on the list and I come back to the list and I see "yea, I'm glad I didn't buy that app" it just saved me money. Impulse buying is bad.

I'll use my brain and common sense. It will tell me if I really need a given accessory or app. If it tells me no I won't buy it. If money is of any value to it's owner s/he'll think twice before letting it go.

I only buy iTunes gift cards to buy apps/media. And I only buy them when they are 20% off in the stores.

You can budget an amount to spend in the iTunes store, then gift yourself that amount. Go to iTunes store, click "Buy iTunes gifts," select "email gift certificate," and email it to yourself. Once you redeem the emailed certificate, a credit will show up on your iTunes account, which will keep decreasing each time you make a purchase. I find it a very good way to keep track of how much I'm spending and stay within budget.

Hmmm, I'm not sure. I know there's a way to open an iTunes account w/o a credit card, but remove a credit card that's already there? Really not sure. Also, if you do manage to remove the credit card, you won't be able to gift yourself your budgeted amount using the email method, you would have to go out and buy iTunes gift cards.

yeah i don't mind i can get them at a discount from my job. I just never had a use for them

Most of my iPhone apps were free

I definitely see the iPad being more useable than the iPhone

I guess I will eventually spend between $50 and $100 on iPad apps
