Hello - I don't know if this is the right spot to ask this question but it is relating to an ipad so hopefully this is correct!

I'm planning on buying an ipad while I'm in Canada in a couple of weeks. I either plan to buy AppleCare with it (because it's cheaper) but then extend in the future when it expires. I live in the UK. Would I be able to do this? extend here after AppleCare finishes in 2 years? Or do I need a Canadian icloud account?

It may just be easier to get monthly applecare when I purchase the product.

There's a lot of misinformation about this, but I believe whilst Canadian apple care would technically work, it would be invalidated as your primary country of residence has to be the same as the country where you purchased your Apple Care. Apple might still honour it when you go for a repair in the UK, but it's up to their discretion.

I bought my iPad Pro M4 in Japan in May when it came out and then added Apple care separately when I came back to the UK. You have quite a large window of time to do this (I don't know exactly how long, this also varies from country to country. I think in the UK it's 30 days but don't quote me on this).

I have renewed AppleCare+ coverages on multiple products upon expiration that I/my family/friends have used across the globe. The process is super easy. You will be shown the monthly $ that is due, and you will choose your form of payment. I/they have never been asked any other info/validation even when I most recently came close to the 45 day grace period for renewal. Coverage is tied to the serial number of the device, regardless of the iCloud account. The only thing you are bound to is AppleCare+ terms and conditions which seem to be offered in both Canada and the UK: https://www.apple.com/legal/applecare/applecareplus/ios/ww/
