I for one am pleased beyond belief with my new iPad (16gb WiFi). I no longer see the need to sit at the traditional desk hunched over a keyboard and staring at an immoveable monitor. What an anachronism that's now become. Even the laptop is now uncomfortable and an unnecessariy anchor weight to have to lug around.
So given that, and not into iTunes for my entertainment, why do I need an up-to-date desktop / laptop? The only reasons I can think of are:
1) Need to install and run the latest version of Airport Extreme software (or whatever router one has).
2) Need to connect to the latest version of iTunes to keep iPad software current.
But I think that's it. Am I correct? Does anyone think that future iPads will ever be standalone without the need for a traditional computer?
