Just taken my iPad to the Genius Bar for a screen issue. The Genius ran the full suite of diagnostics available, and of particular note to me was this part:
For whatever reason the diagnostic tool thinks it is an iPhone connected, but it was very much an iPad. More fuel for the 'iPad doesn't have enough RAM' fire? Even Apple have it written that the device runs short of RAM a lot.
