iPad iPad auto correct not replacing words

Hello all, I have an IPad 10th generation and today autocorrect has stopped replacing misspelled words and instead adding to end of misspelled words. Of course I know the best answer is to just spell correctly and I don’t have to worry about it. Okay it is working correctly on this site which is strange, was on Facebook where I first saw problem. Any ideas anyone.

you use more than one keyboard language setting? In my experience this happens when I write something in a language which differs from the current keyboard language. What happens if you select a misspelled word and choose Replace… from the pop-up?

Never tried that, was just moving cuser and deleting misspelled part. And using same language.
