iPad calculator rant....

Just upgraded my iPad Pro to iOS 14.

Why is it Apple can add all my home devices to the Lock Screen control center, but can’t include a calculator. They have a flash light and a remote control, but no calculator?

Rant over, but I just don’t get it. I swear they refuse To add it just to spite us.

And we honestly just haven’t gotten around to doing it great.”

still no calculator app for ipad IOS 14

seriously I just want to pull down control center use calculator app as a small little pop up window so I can do fast calculations how can apple not see this already seriously my ipad should have a native calculator app

I am fine with that line of thinking, until I saw all those home device icons and the flash light Messing up the control center screen.

So apple feels it’s worth while to shuts lights on and off while your on the coach watching a show.

you can even change channels with the remote and even start a timer.

But needing a calculator while browsing a web site is just crazy.

nobody would ever need to pull up a quick calculator that looks and works like the one on your phone.

it’s not that I can’t get an app, it’s just if it worker like your phone.
 
I like CF, but they've had more than ten years to do something, even if it isn't "distinctly great."

For a tool like a calculator, users are mainly looking for the utility, and for it to be completely missing is worse than even just having a mediocre solution (which could be said for many of Apple's native apps). People aren't asking for a gold-plated toilet, only a functional one.

A weather app might take more effort, and encounter higher expectations, but that's still a poor excuse for its complete omission. Some third-party weather apps have been demonstrated to be data miners, and having them as the de facto option is not in keeping with Apple's theme of looking out for its users' privacy.
 
I totally agree. It really aggravates me that apple keeps many of its stock iOS apps from being on the iPad. The Calculator app is the most obvious and silliest omission, IMO. But leaving out the other missing iOS apps, specifically Weather, Health and Fitness, Phone (would be great for wifi calling users), Wallet (you can’t see all of your apple card data in the Settings app) and now Translate is very annoying to me.

Its sort of clunky and very un-apple like to have the type of basic functionality found in these stock apps on one device but not the other. Even after using the iPad for 10 years I still sometimes look for the calculator app subconsciously. I know we can just download a third party replacement but its dumb that we have to do that.

I hope that the next iPadOS update fixes this problem and brings the missing iOS apps over. For apps like Calculator or Phone it could be cool if they added the concept of small floating windows to iPadOS. That would eliminate the awkwardness of having a huge full screen calculator, and it’d also be nice to have your calculator handy when you’re in another app.
 
Guess they know their calculator app is utter trash. 😂

I was so relieved when you could delete stock apps. The calculator was the first one I deleted and substituted with another one.
