I used the Belkin F8V7058-APL for many years. Worked very well with my old 3rd gen and 5.5th gen hard disk iPods.

Problem is that this device apparently charges via firewire. It does not charge my 3rd gen iPod touch nor my iPad. Passengers have hooked it up to their iPhones to find that it doesn't charge them either.

I would really like to replace my Belkin F8V7058-APL with a solution that can charge my iPod touch and iPad, but is identical in every other way. I like having a line-out jack in the cigarette lighter plug, and a long cord. Not interested in FM modulators or holder-type chargers. Any advice would be appreciated.

Searched this forum and Google with no luck. Just found lots of chargers that lack the audio carrying capability that I'm looking for.

Good luck with that.

I would love one that would also charge my iPad, but would be happy with one that will work with my 3G iPhone. They are nearly impossible to find now. The two on the Apple site both have really bad reviews. Even if you remove the complaints about loop whine (morons) there are lots of complaints about build quality.

I second the call for a replacement for this. I've used the Belkin for years in my car and love it. It's replacement will soon be needed though since my 1st gen iPhone (which would charge over firewire iPod chargers) will soon be replaced by a the new 4G (or HD, or whatever they call it) iPhone.

Is there a USB equiv?
