I'm wondering if the American part of the charger, the two prongs, comes off so you can put a UK plug bit on it? My Macbook Pro came with a spare UK plug bit and the older iPhone chargers also had the removable UK plug bit with them too.

It would save me from having to use a travel adapter which in my experience are never feel very safe to me.
