Howdy Folks,

This may be because I am a little OCD (or maybe I am just odd LOL), but whenever I get a new iPad (or Mac or iPhone for that matter) I like to use the newest "default" wallpaper. For iPads and iPhones this wallpaper is what you normally see on the product box and in the advertising. I found out the hard way (a few years ago actually) that when you don't setup the iPad/iPhone as "new," it inherits the wallpaper form your previous device, not the new one. The solution to this is to always set it up as "new" and then just restore your apps. This takes longer, but it also give me a chance to do a little housekeeping. When I received my new 2021 11" iPad Pro (m1) I attempted to do this. What I ended up with, is what looks like the default wallpaper for the M1 Macs? Granted it looks kind of cool, but it is not what I see on the iPad Pro box. Does anyone know what the "official" wallpaper for the 2021 iPads is? It seem strange to be the same as the new Macs? Thanks!

UPDATE: Thanks to some responses to my post, I realize I have made a mistake. It is not M1 Mac Wallpaper displayed on my iPad, but rather the default Big Sur Wallpaper, as seen here: https://osxdaily.com/2020/12/15/get-the-macos-big-sur-default-wallpapers/. My question still stands, as the Big Sur picture was what showed up on mine, after a setting it up on my new iPad Pro. This, incidentally, is currently the wallpaper on my Big Sur updated 2019 16" MacBook Pro.

I’m confused, something doesn’t sound right… You said the default wallpaper didn’t match the box, and then wonder what it should be. (Hint: It’s the one on the box, as you mentioned.) Isn’t the image on the box available to pick from in the ‘Stills’ library? It seems odd that what you ended up with looks like the default wallpaper for the M1 Macs. Are these what you’re referring to, or was it one of the noodle wallpapers for the iPad Air 4? It sounds to me like you got the iPad Air 4 in the iPad Pro box, but I hope that’s not the case.

I have the 2021 11” iPad Pro too, and my default wallpaper matched the box (the pink version that FSMBP linked above since I have the space gray model). I don’t have the noodle wallpapers or anything that look like the M1 Mac wallpapers in my ‘Stills’ library, so I’m not sure where that came from on yours.

The other solution is simply to choose the wallpaper you want -- including whatever new ones came with that device -- from the wallpaper chooser in Preferences.

iPads and iPhones will display the default iOS version wallpaper when you first set them up as new, not the wallpaper that’s on the box. You have to go to wallpapers and scroll all the way down to find your specific device exclusive wallpapers.

Hi BigBlur,

Thanks for your response. I do have the box, and can see the wallpaper on it. I was mistaken, and it not the M1 Mac wallpaper, but rather the Big Sur Wallpaper as seen here: https://osxdaily.com/2020/12/15/get-the-macos-big-sur-default-wallpapers/ I can go to the settings and change it, but I like to have the default as what I have up until this point always had by setting it up as a "new" device. This is the first time that it did not match the box. I don't know if what I have experienced is a fluke, or if this is the "new default" since it is an M1 based iPad? Thanks again!

These three are my favorites. They nailed it with them. I still use the 2018 and 2020 wallpapers every now and then. I use the 2018 on my iPhone when I use a brighter case.
