iPad iPad dilemma

So if the rumors are true, we should be getting mini-led iPad in late 2020.

My current situation: I do have Macbook air 2018 (That i'm planning to sell). Also have pretty decent custom gaming-pc. The iPad would replace my Macbook Air for media consumption/changing songs on my hi-fi setup and general "whatsapp and chill"-stuff. Screen-quality on my devices is #1 priority. (Reason why i did get iPhone 11 Pro vs. cheaper 11)

The new 12.9" ipad pro is tempting, however if we do get mini-led in late 2020 and not march, how powerfull is the 2019 iPad 10.2 with A10-chip running iPadOS to use it in the mean time?

A10+3GB performance should be fine for your mentioned usage.

However, take note that the display is likely pretty much the single biggest line items savings to get the price so low. Non-laminated, no TrueTone, no P3 color, no ProMotion, no antireflective coating.

Personally, I find the display good enough but you might not think the same.

Thanks! You are probably right. The screen on my Macbook Air 2018 is mediocre (imo). But, Given the fact that it's going to be an "temporary" solution until the 12.9 with mini-led comes out. I will sell the ipad aftewards and take the hit.

My un-used macbook air is losing value because it's running out of it's 1 year warranty - so i have to sell it to get to get decent money out of it.

Just to make you aware WhatsApp does not have a dedicated app on the iPad.

I would prefer to boycott Facebook best i can, but unfortunately i would have to boycott my friends and family with the Whatsapp-boycott.

The iPad Pro has a much better screen (especially when it comes to colors) compared to the 2018 MacBook Air.

Without a doubt. That's the one of the reason why i'm switching to iPad. But if mini-led is behind the corner (Within the year from now), it's worth to wait it out and then spend the buck to get the mini-led version.

Whatsapp on safari on ipad has no system notifications and does not update/refresh with new messages as fast as on a macbook or pc.... basically you need to keep the page open all the time and do nothing else to use it....
