Hello!

Can an m1 ipad support a 120hz or 144hz monitor. For example, 1440 x 2560 at 144hz?

What I’ve found is:

  • People claim there is no software lock limiting it to 60hz
  • People still can’t get it to work
My theory is that we would need a Thunderbolt compatible monitor to enable this! The only monitor that supports thunderbolt natively and is above 100hz is LG 38WN95C-W & ASUS ProArt Display PA32UCG. Both require below 40gbps bandwidth and support thunderbolt.

However, finding someone with either of these AND an m1 ipad is not an easy task.

Any information or suggestions on how to find out would be very helpful. Apple support never manages to answer my questions.

The iPad Pro Tech Spec page states that external monitor support tops out at 6K at 60hz. It doesn’t say anything about lower resolutions at 120hz or similar refresh rates. It seems to me that if it did support such refresh rates, that spec would list it.
