ipad file transfer

is there any way to copy a file from a pen drive or hardrive to ipad?

or i have to bring The ipad with my MacBook..

i am talking about a simple copy of a doc from a friend or something.

i hope The connection kit can read USB pen drives if not i think is
very limiting. many times i dont have wi-fi. i dont see The point if i have to carry my MacBook to make a simple file transfer.

It's called a "camera kit" my guess is its only going to work with a camera.

Or bring back the disk mount feature. But there might be an app for that.
