I have an iPad Pro (10.5-inch) 2017 which I had a screen protector added at the time of purchase. Since then I have had the display replaced but kept the initial screen protector. Now in the last couple of days I notice that there are patches where I can't draw on. I have checked out two Apple pens to make sure it's not the problem. So now I'm left with 1. is it the screen protector which needs replacing or, 2. is it the display itself which is at fault. How long do screen protectors roughly last for? Should I replace that? If its not that, and I am left with a faulty screen again then I will wait out unto the next version of iPad arrives hopefully next month.

Thanking you.

I’m not familiar with screen protectors that can be removed and reinstalled. I’d just remove the screen protector and test the pencils. If they still don’t work in certain spots it’s the display. In which case you don’t need a screen protector if the display is defective. If it turns out it was the screen protector then you can either replace it for around $10 on Amazon for a two pack or just leave it naked and enjoy it that way.

A screen protector can wear out over time, especially if you have been using it a lot for drawing with the Apple Pencil. I would take the screen protector off, and test with the Apple Pencil. More than likely, the screen will respond as it should. If that is the case, go ahead and repeal the screen protector.

I think you should consider buying a newer (and better) screen protector.
