So I have a couple those cheap Wyze security cams, one on the driveway and one on my walk / front porch. I also have a seldom used iPad (MR6T2LL/A) laying around. Will I kill it prematurely, battery, screen burn or etc, using it to monitor the cameras 24/7, plugged up to the charger, display set to never sleep? It works quite well. Photo attached. I could unplug it and let the battery run it down once a week or something if that would help.

Another option I thought might be using an Echo show 10". A daughter has one and I they support the Wize app as well.

Opinions?
Thanks. TD

There is no reason to have it showing the cameras permanently. It's only useful if you are always at home, or don't want to load the app each time (?). Wyze also has a lot of good tracking like motion and people that it's not really necessary to watch the feed 24/7.

Not to mention the data use, but most ISPs are unlimited. You could lower the brightness. If it's an iPad you're not really using for much of anything, go ahead.

Well a lot of reasons to have full time display. First it's just cool!... sometimes I stream the cameras to my 75" TV via an Apple TV if the TV is not otherwise in use. And, I am retired and home most of the time. My wife (still working 😁) is completely technology challenged so she can effortlessly instantly view it as desired when home. I keep it by my recliner so a quick glance lets me see what set off my driveway alarm. My drive and front porch are on the front of the house and unviewable from where I spend most of my time, including sleeping. Etc. But mostly perhaps, having it always on to instantly view allows me to reduce or turn off notifications from Wyze to my phone unless away from home. In short it is quite handy to have. By the way, I just bought the Wyze cams to get my feet wet before spending the $$$... possibly... on a full blown security camera system and that will have full time monitoring on a flat screen TV, or two, in the house via HDMI from an NVR. I think... However the Waze fit the bill... almost... for now. I have 8 total, a motion detector and a couple contact sensors to play with and cover my fairly rural 4 acres.

I hadn't thought about dialing back the screen brightness a bit... will do! Thanks, TD
