Who's using their iPad for technical books (for example OReilly) and video's (for example CBTNuggets)? Haven't got an iPad yet, so I was wondering if this setup works for you.

I do.

I use air HD to stream all my tutorial vids and stuff and I read tons of tech and other PDFs via readdledocs and good reader.

The other day I watched 12 hours of Filemaker Pro stuff then read a pdf on app dev.

This is why I bought my iPad.

Same here, I spent most of last week downloading various technical hi-res videos (wmv) on the Microsoft .Net Framework for my job. I converted them using VisualHub and Handbrake to mp4 (960x768 seems to be best for iPad assuming a 4:3 ratio) and yesterday picked up my iPad and tried them out. They look great!

Similarly, PDF versions of my technical books also look great inside Goodreader.

This was my main motivation for buying an iPad, so if you're thinking about the same things, I say go for it.

Indeed, that is also my main motivation. Instead of reading all those PDF's & watching vids behind my PC, we can just learn everything on the couch :)
