Just picked up a baseline 16GB WiFi only Ipad 2 days ago, and beginning to upload all my work documents onto it. I use mostly Word and PDF files. I've already downloaded and installed Pages, iBooks, and a free app called iPDF.
The problem I have is that I can get Word docs to open up fine, but it seems like the iPad hiccups a lot on bigger PDF files.
i.e., I have a large PDF file that is about 100 pages long, most of which is in xls spreadsheet format, and blueprints of floorplans (schematics). The pages with the spreadsheet loads just fine. Once it gets to the drawings, it chokes. If I try to zoom in, it chokes. If I rotate the iPad, it chokes again. Is there a work-around to this problem? I want to be able to present the file to my coworkers/boss and examine something without embarrasing myself.
2nd question I have is: is the Spotlight the only method of organizing the work documents? Is there no way of, say, creating a folder on the desktop, like my MBP?
Other than that, I'm really happy with my purchase. I don't have to lug around my MBP anymore, instead just whip out the ipad during the commute!
Thanks guys!
