iPad from heathrow to jfk

I just wanted to write how the ipad is making my current journey easier...

I am sitting in departures waiting for my flight, and I actually travelled paperless today. I had checked in online on the iPad and also applied for ESTA authorisation earlier in the week on it.

5 hours after taking it off of charge, I am at 85% and will try to find an outlet just to get a little extra gharge for the 7 hour flight, however, with all radio off, I think it should last me quite well.

I read a magazine on the journey to the airport and am currently on here and on aim to my fiancée and it's really useful so far

It's a brilliant travel device. In a slightly serious, but mostly tongue in cheek way, the idea of a device that replaces a lot of paper, can fit in the back seat pocket on a plane, has great battery life, usually doesn't have to be taken out of a bag for security screening, and can do a keynote presentation, well is kind of magical.

Similar for my last trip from Heathrow via Frankfurt to Tokyo: more then 10 hours ... reading lots of Kindle-stuff with one charge. That plus one meal, one movie and 1 hour sleep let pass the time quick fast ... of course the brightness was reduced but thats ok in the aircraft. Just love that iPad.
The best thing was: my five year old boy was mostly sleeping during the flight so I could read ...

A week in Denver

Still debating on whether or not to take the MacBook with me to Denver. I could likely use this iPad all week to do email with mobile iron, and using citrix receiver i am able to have my work desktop.

I think it a worthy challenge.

Go for it. We actually just spent a week in Denver ourselves--two iPads, two iPhones. Didn't touch a "real" computer until my father in law asked me to triage his wireless issues.

If you've got access to your work desktop on the iPad too, you probably won't miss the laptop. But you could always take it along as insurance just for this trip, and make the challenge that you won't open it.

Vacation with ipad

Just finished a 7 day trip from Phoenix, AZ to Honolulu, took ipad, iphone and canon s90, watched movies on the ipad on the plane.....downloaded pictures from both camera and iphone every morning in the hotel coffee shop, free wifi, everyone thought the pad was cool.....sent friends pictures from both pad and phone from coffee bean..this was such a cool way to travel.

Recently did exactly the same journey (and the return). iPad a godsend. Better movies than the in-flight offerings, plus a podcast or two, an audiobook and a Zinio magazine. You won't need any extra charge from 85% btw - it should be plenty.
