Perhaps I am behind the curve here...
To my surprise Word for iPad can use Mendeley reference manager plugin. This has been my main concern for going "iPad only" as an academic.
To my other surprise Fusion 360 over the web works on the iPad Pro (Chrome) despite what Autodesk says. It apparently wants you to use the pencil. Performance is bad but it works! When Shapr 3D has an academic discount like Autodesk, I might use that.
Blender is native for M1 so there is hope that Blender might run on M1 iPads.
