Had a weird thing happen today. My iPad reset itself back to factory including wiping all my data! I was at the mall getting my iPhone 4 covered in Ghost Armor so I swung by the super busy Apple store without much hope of seeing a Genius. They squeezed me in 30 minutes later and 10 minutes after that I was heading out the door with a swapped out iPad. Not thrilled about refurb but at least my slightly dented back is no longer a stress and hopefully I won't have the same problem. Way to go Apple your customer service is as always, awesome!

Those two bits in the same paragraph make me think that it was -accidentally on purpose magically reset-...

It wasn't accidentally on purpose. The Genius actually ran it through some diagnosis test and said there was some type of failure. I had no intention of getting it swapped out. If my devices get scratched, dented or whatever, I look at it as an event in it's life like a scar on my knee.

Well then I certainly hope its not a common failure, that would be a concern. Glad you were able to have it swapped over with no hassles.

As far as I know the entire world offers 1 yr limited warranty.
