I'v searched, but can't find any similar threads. I've had my lovely 16GB iPad since day one, and it's looked after in its apple case carefully. Everything (with the following exceptions) is fine with its functioning.

A couple of games show really bad graphical corruption, like when your graphics card overheats in your PC. Most games like Plants v Zombies and all other apps are fine, but Let's Golf! and Wesnoth HD look like the following (even after a power recycle and a re-download and re-install)...

Any suggestions? I've searched TouchArcade, and the threads for these apps, no one seems to be having this problem there. I'm sort of assuming it's hardware. Anyone had similar problems? Return time?

Thanks.

In PC land that's the type of behavior a computer can exhibit if the video card is defective, or the computer has general heat issues.

Thanks for the link. Looks like an appointment is scheduled for my future this weekend.

With every other game and app being fine, I was tempted not too, but as it might get worse I'll see if they will swap it.

Thanks all. I'll update after I go in.

While it does look like a fault with the GPU, try to grab a screenshot from a native iPad app to show to the genius.

Yep! That is what happened to mine too! It would get like that at first, then turn green with fuzzy lines. Only black and green colors would be shown. Either way, our stories are both shared on mac forums and mac rumors, so you can't miss it now. Good luck at the genius appointment. Make sure you get it to do the same thing when you are there…even if you have to play a game… I don't think it has anything to do with the game being native or of iphone origin because the problem occurred on mine on ipad specific games as well as everything else that you can run on the ipad, i.e, even the home screen...

Well, made an appointment at my local Apple Genius bar for 11:30 this morning. Showed them the problem. They took it in the back to check, and came out with a new one to replace it.

I actually asked them if instead of replacing it with exactly the same model, as it was faulty if I could pay the difference and upgrade to a 3G version. I said I was perfectly happy to pay a restocking fee too. But no joy there. They could only replace with the same model. Still, my new one is fine, no similar problem. WiFi seems fine. Screen looks good. Must say I would have liked the 3g as my office wifi is so secure I can't get on it lol, but that's fine, my fault for not being patient :p If I hadn't already bought my wife one I could have gone the 'pass it over' route.

You can't do an "exchange," but you could have done a return and bought the 3G(assuming there is one available)! I asked the same thing...

Yeah, I didn't think abouit that at the time. But now, looking at my receipt, I have until the 16th to return it with a $49.99 fee if opened. Of course, I've opened it, but that doesn't bother me. Just wish I'd noticed that in the store, or been informed of that as an option.

My one concern is that they would give me store credit and not let me use that store credit plus additional debit/credit card that was used to buy two ipad's originally to purchace the 3G.

You know, when we bought 2 iphones, I got the one with a gap between the screen and bezel. My wifes was perfect. We get 2 iPads, mine has the graphics problem... Starting to see a pattern here... (Next time we buy 2 of anything, I'm letting her choose hers, then secretly swapping them round)!!

All I want to do is give Apple more money! How hard can it be lol. Yeah, I do understand where they are coming from with resellers etc. Not that I have a deep opinion either way on that personally.

If my office WiFi wasn't so secure I wouldn't be thinking about the 3G ever. Still, we'll see. I'll go back this week sometime.

Love my iPad whatever form it is in! :)
