hello. New user and hope someone can help me. I am looking to sell my air 2 because I'm wanting to upgrade to a 10.5 pro. My question is when an iPad is wiped and restored to factory settings is it recoverable at all? Reason I am asking is I do all my banking and bill paying on the device and don't want my personal info out there. Also would me iCloud settings need to be removed from the device or does the factory restore get rid of all that. Also is this done in the settings ? If anyone has sold an iPad and wiped theirs , any info and help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the link. But is the data recoverable at all in the wrong hands? Or is the wipe ( like a brand new device would be ) also is my Apple ID erased from the unit? I wouldn't want any unauthorized purchases made under my account.

Sign out of iCloud and the iTunes & App Store.
  1. If you're using iOS 10.3 or later, tap Settings > [your name]. Scroll down and tap Sign Out. Enter your Apple ID password and tap Turn Off.
  • If you're using iOS 10.2 or earlier, tap Settings > iCloud > Sign Out. Tap Sign Out again, then tap Delete from My [device] and enter your Apple ID password. Then go to Settings > iTunes & App Store > Apple ID > Sign Out.
  1. Go back to Settings and tap General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings. If you turned on Find My iPhone, you might need to enter your Apple ID and password.
  2. If asked for your device passcode or Restrictions passcode, enter it. Then tap Erase [device].

Follow the instructions, but turn off find my phone and logout of your account, and then wipe.

Thx for the info folks. Appreciate it. I am curious still though,is the wipe permanent ? Could any personal information be recovered after this is done ? Sorry if I sound paranoid but with all these breaches out there it makes one worry :(

Do the data wipe. Then, do a clean install through iTunes, set up as new iPad. When you see the "Hello" screen, leave it. Power down and you are ready to ship the device. To the recipient, it will be as if they got it from the factory.

This is what I do with every Apple device I sell or give away, including iPads, iPhones, MacBook, iMac.
