Will Apple ever change the home screen icon limit layout. So much space is wasted on the sides. At least 2-3 more columns of icons can be added if the full screen space was accessible

I’m not sure, but who needs a Home Screen cluttered with that many apps when there are convenient features like App Library and Spotlight to find things in an instant?

If you have widgets on the Home Screen, you can remove them to get more icons. A screen with no widgets can hold 30 app icons (5x6 grid). A screen with widgets can only hold up to 24 app icons/widgets (4x6 grid). Apple changed this in iOS 15, so don't see it changing again any time soon.

No one here is going to know the answer to that. Only apple.

Unlike Android, Apple never lets users get into much UI customization so it is unlikely that you get an option from Apple in the future. Although, since Apple tends to bring few features from Android as per the need and customer responses, You can always create petitions or write to the Apple Support informing them with a proper explanation. More requests, higher chances of them considering this change.
