Besides, the iPad isn't available in the UK anyway. Not yet, at least. So it's no surprise that the UK iTunes store isn't yet fully compatible.

You will have to sign out of your UK account. Then sign in using the US account you used to download iBooks. Lock the iPad. Unlock and relaunch the app to get the US iBookstore. At least I think that is the process.
Yep, Kindle editions are definitely cheaper.Yup. I've downloaded a bunch of samples to check it out. No problems when logged in with a US account. That said, so far I prefer Kindle, and the books I bought were cheaper on Kindle too.
Thats because the iPad is only out in the US. Not much point in apple launching something worldwide when only one country really has access to the hardware for it.
