ipad ibooks is not supported in uk ??????

my guess is that it wont be available until the iPad is actually available here. Until then use the kindle app if you are desperate.
Blame the publishers and copyright/royalties issues. Apple can't be held responsible. I have no doubt that they would love to provide world-wide access to the entire iTunes library.hello
im trying to download ibooks from itune every time i try its says its notavailable in my region
and i need it to read some books

Besides, the iPad isn't available in the UK anyway. Not yet, at least. So it's no surprise that the UK iTunes store isn't yet fully compatible.

Thats because the iPad is only out in the US. Not much point in apple launching something worldwide when only one country really has access to the hardware for it.
You will have to sign out of your UK account. Then sign in using the US account you used to download iBooks. Lock the iPad. Unlock and relaunch the app to get the US iBookstore. At least I think that is the process.
Yup. I've downloaded a bunch of samples to check it out. No problems when logged in with a US account. That said, so far I prefer Kindle, and the books I bought were cheaper on Kindle too.
Yep, Kindle editions are definitely cheaper.
Interesting though, I was searching for John Battelle's The Search and Amazon didn't offer a Kindle edition, but iBooks offered an iBook edition.
Of course, Apple's version was double the price of the printed copy on Amazon which make no sense whatsoever.
Based on pricing alone I would stick to buying books from Amazon, but reading them on my iPad when I can.
Actually iBooks is a US only app, and will remain so even after UK iPad launch. Apple have yet to formulate licensing for any other territories and therefore the app will simply be unavailable on any other iTunes store other than the US (maybe Canada).
The only way to download books is to setup a US iTunes account and purchase iTunes gift card coupons to top up your account.
