Got a message from my iPad notifying me I have not back it up for three weeks. Can't remember I have ever seen this message before. I have iCloud Backup turned on and never even thought about it. But I guess something (did not) happened three weeks ago.

Followed the instruction to back up and it would take some 7 minutes. Then 11 minutes. Then 1 hour. Then 7 hours. Then 1 day. Now 1 day later, I see the progress is halfway and still says 1 day left.

Crazy this has all worked in the background without me noticing before, as this process is painful to watch.

Any clues to what is going on? Haven't found a whole lot of useful information searching about this.

89 GB out of available 256 GB. Over moderately fast wi-fi.

Last backup I can see was made is 57 GB. The number above here just came from me checking how much storage is used up. I supposed many things are already backed up, so it is not a full clone that is going to iCloud now.

That is a lot of data to backup. If I was having this problem, I would...

1) Stop the backup

2) Check the iCloud storage size availability. Make sure you are not almost at your limit.

2) Do an internet speed test. You could be getting great download speed but, your upload speed may be in the basement.

2) If the speed test is good, I would start the backup again.

Is backup being done while charging? If there's slow upload on the internet then it may be worth sticking it on charge and leaving it backing up overnight.

Yeah, it is on charge and has been on charge for 24 hours now (something I rather not do, as I believe it is damaging for the battery).

Plenty of storage in iCloud left, only using a fraction of the 2 TB I have there. Internet speed is 94 Mbps up, so very close to what I should be getting with my provider.

Might as well just let it continue. I do see progress, but it is just so surprisingly slow.

If internet up speed is that good might it be worth killing off the backup and doing a fresh one?
