at my wits end (in Australia)
So iPads will be out in Australia on May 28:

16GB Wi-Fi $629
32GB Wi-Fi $759
64GB Wi-Fi $879

16GB Wi-Fi+3G $799
32GB Wi-Fi+3G $928
64GB Wi-Fi+3G $1049

They look like pretty good prices. Any word yet on data deals from the carriers? I think that will be the deciding factor on which model to go for.

I'm surprised that Apple didn't try to keep the 64 GB wifi+3G model at a $999 price-point.

That $1,000 mark can be a psychological barrier for many.....

I thought the same. Although it might be Apple's intention to push the high end 3G models through the telcos in which they'll be subsidized anyway.

Being that they will be available on a range of carriers rather than just one like in the States, it might be a way for Apple to drive competition to discount on subsidy in the telcos and hence drive more sales than outright prices.

I guess I'm not one of the many. 64GB 3G here I come :D

I do agree though. I had hoped they would squeeze the 16GB WiFi to $599 and the 64GB 3G to $999 but despite that I am pleased with these prices. Especially considering the hammering our dollar has taken of the last day or so :/

Prices are about what I was expecting...
but I'm very happy to hear that we will be getting iBookstores as well!!!!

Fingers crossed though - I'm still hoping to pick one up in Florida on Tues... let's hope the US Apple stores get new stock next week!!!

So excited :)

Does anyone know what time they usually let things like this go up for pre-order?

Also, do they charge your credit card for the full amount when you preorder or only at some stage prior to shipment (but not necessarily right away)?

Many thanks.

Can you show me the link on where these price are shown? I still cant find it on Aus Apple Site.

Yeah, I was thinking $799, $899 and $999 for the 3G models.

That really is a good price in the aust market. Going on the Mac Mini price, I was expecting it to be around $100 more for the entry model.

Those prices are pretty much inline of what was predicted by me and this other guy in this thread. And I was happy with those predictions.

But alas, I need to wait for the next iPhone pricing before any thought about buying an iPad.

Basically the same prices as the 3GS iPhones. Makes me wonder if the 4G iPhone will see a drop in price then. Or will an unlocked iPhone always be equal in price to a larger iPad?

Data plans:

$60 for 6GB
$80 for 9GB
$100 for 12GB

and Optus:

$30 for 3Gb
$60 for 8GB a month
