Just got back from Jervis shopping centre and can say they have literally tons of iPads in stock. Anybody sitting at work worrying if they will be around when they get off need not worry. They have all varieties and there was not really anybody around or anything.

Oh... which store in Jervis? PC World? If so am on my way to have a look

It certainly has been quite the wait. Enjoying mine so far just going through the free books in the app store.

Any news on when the ipad will be available in the apple.ie store or are their any online retailers for the ipad in Ireland ?

Not too sure capall. RTE states that it is available online for Irish customers, but apple.ie doesn't seem to state that.

I had a look at the iPad, and a bit of fiddle =(. I got greatly upset I cant afford it now. It is gorgeous. with all the negative remarks flying around, am happy I waited to at least see it first hand to develop my own opinion (which can be different for someone else) about it.. I love it.. it doesnt replace my computer, nor my iPod or iPhone, but I can see myself sitting in bed watching a movie on it or reading.

Very lacklustre launch, it seems pc world and compu b are the place to go, but by god did anyone even notice they had launched at all?

God knows what iPhone 4 launch next week will be like.

Oh and Apple, update your bloody website please. ;)

Yes, PC World is where I bought this one. 599 for 16 GB 3G.

you guys should get the 32gb model at least....it would be worth the small amount of extra money it costs.

I got the 64BG model and am very glad I did. Tonnes of room for music, movies, tv shows, videos and books.

I don't think 16GB gives you a lot of storage for a mobile media device.

But its just my opinion so take it as my .02cents worth!

Basically if you were outside of either Dublin or Galway you were screwed ;)

So how many iPads did Ireland get for it's mammoth Irish launch?

3000.

Yep 3000 units. No wonder it was mostly muted and hence the reason Apple have not bothered changing their website.

Really is that all they could manage? If so they shouldn't have bothered and waited until they could launch with some greater oomph. On the bright side they are mostly sold out  but come on it's 3000 units.

Rather meagre and I'm not sure a muted insignificant poorly marketed release is going to make the iPad a success here. Yes the die hards love it, but Mary & Johnny who make up the bulk of Ireland still don't know it exists, what one is, or even care due to the lacklustre release.

Worst launch of a new Apple product in Ireland I have seen.
