So we know the rough details for the USA, but when will the iPad be released in Europe? Anyone care to speculate or even provide some tangible evidence?:)

Stevie J said in the keynote that while the WiFi one would come out in March, the 3G one would be released in Europe in June/July as it would take a while to sort out the data plans with the carriers.

No, he said the data plans wouldn't be sorted until June / July.

The 3G iPad is unlocked and is sold without a data plan so there is nothing stopping them selling the iPad before then. All the UK networks already do low price PAYG data packages, so you could use one of these until the official plans are available.

The UK Website clearly says:
Wi-Fi models shipping in late March.
3G models shipping in April.

The only thing coming in June/July is the deals with International Carriers. As the iPad is unlocked, there is no reason for them to delay 3G release (even if no MicroSIMs are available the iPad WiFi + 3G will still work without 3G) til Jun/July.

Not that it bothers me much, if they do delay it I'll buy one in the US, I'm there most weeks anyway LOL :)

Would there be any issue with power supply or warranty if you're buying from the USA?

A local website says that the iPad will cost €449,= here in the Netherlands and will be released at the end of march.
Probably all the same for the rest of europe.

Danish retailer Humac has announced prices starting at DKr 3499,- (~$653).

And speculations are on that, at least the wifi version, will be available in Norway along with the first batch by the end of March or shortly thereafter, with prices starting at around NKr 3790,- (~$643), according to ipod1.no.

If its power supply is anything like the iPhone/MacBook Pro then nope. My Apple gear (original iPhone and 13" MacBook Pro) are both from the US and work fine over here.

Its fun to confuse the Genius' in the Apple Store when you take a foreign machine in for them to look at it.

Not sure about warranty as I've never had to use it

How about the actual purchase of the 3G - will I be able to simply order one online via the Apple store with my cc? Will it involve contracts?

Kind of a silly question I suppose, but I'm used to buying anything data related/possibly contracted in real life stores

Your MacBook Pro would be covered, your iPhone wouldn't.

Simultaneous worldwide release was strongly implied by Jobs at the announcement, was it not? WiFi version available worldwide in 60 days.

apple.com/de says the same thing:
* Wi-Fi Modelle erhältlich ab Ende März.
* 3G Modelle erhältlich ab April.
* Die Preise für Deutschland werden zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt bekannt gegeben.

Euro prices suck for most computer stuff, especially if you're comparing to the weak dollar. Went through buying a Lenovo laptop about two years ago, when the exchange rate was around €1.00 = $1.50: it turned out that I could buy *two* laptops from Lenovo USA, have them shipped to Germany, and pay all taxes, and it would work out to about the same price as buying *one* of the exact same laptop in Europe.

But that requires patience for shipping. Well, buy through your company and at least save VAT ;)
