I want to buy a 64g 3g ipad and everywhere seems to be out of stock. Anyone got any ideas where best to get one (from an official supplier - not ebay) and who stocks up the quickest - and when?

im hunting too! At 5am this morning (don't ask!) fulham's pc world website said they had the 64gig 3g in stock, and just now when I checked again they don't... anyone spotted any for us?

I've been on a waiting list for a 16gb 3g for a week now....

Getting tired of waiting.

Personally I dont trust the on line PC world stock system, and frankly I dont want to give them or any of the DSG stores my money - but thats another thread...

I'm not sure if you can put your name down on several Apple Store waiting lists or if it breaches their rules!

Good luck... I'm lost without my iPhone and stuck with a glitchy Windows Netbook.... :(

Remember if you buy from Curry's, PC World etc, and you get a dodgy pixel, or some other minor thing like that you will be stuck with it, as they don't give the same no quibble money back guarantee that you get when buying from Apple direct.

Apple stores will swap the unit tho.

For what its worth,

Just went to PC World Staples Corner, the Apple guy there didnt even realise what they had in stock.

As of 12:30pm today they had a few 64gb and 16gb wifi only models.

If the staff there don't even know, then I wouldnt trust their on line system!

Hope this helps.

Thanks all. I am now on the waiting list at apple Brent Cross - although there are 650 people ahead of me. As usual they don't know what they will get when but they have orders every day.

I agree with the poster about PC world or whatever they are called. Bought stuff from them before and if you have a problem u are screwed. Would rather wait a month to buy one from apple rather than get one from them today.

please tell me thats 650 across all models, not just 1!

Im on there too but for the 16gb 3g, 1 week so far... funny that they wouldnt tell me how many people are ahead of me.. or what rate they're moving...

Depending on how desperate you are, try ringing an Apple store outside London and then driving out to it or getting the train.

I know that may seem ott but if you really really really want one now then it may solve your problem. I'm sure I heard ask to buy a 64gb one this morning in Newcastle Apple Store. Granted a 6 hour round trip is a bit excessive.

North of Watford???

I dont think I'm that desperate!

I got mine from PC World. I made sure with the manager I could return it if there were any dead pixels free of charge

Wow u been on the waiting lit for a week? I guess it must be across all models but I kind of thought I might get an email tomorrow or something - wishful thinking then I guess! What a pain!

Got mine from a company called Solutions Inc. They do not have the iPad listed on their website but had them in the St albans store 2 weeks ago when I walked in.

So do we think there might be new stock delivered tomorrow?

They keep telling me they get deliveries "every day", but again, who know which models?

I think you've got a better chance as you're going for the top end model so probably less people waiting for those... but then again, might mean they get less in!

It annoys me that they won't release any info on where you are in the queue for that product. Or at least give an ETA based on all customers taking their reservations.

My wife is paying for mine (birthday gift, isn't she great!) so it's a daily call of "have you had the email?" so that she can go to the store to pay for it.

Still, mustn't grumble... Apple are getting over a £1500 off me this week alone... actually, that's reason to grumble!

FWIW, have you considered ordering online via the UK apple store?

I wanted the same model as you are after (64GB, 3G) and last Monday (14th) placed an order which initially stated it would ship on/before the 28th June... It actually shipped the next day and on Wednesday I had my shiny new device.

Just an idea I thought I'd throw out there...

Ok, just got the email to say my iPad is ready to pick up :)

now I'm a happy bunny!

8 day wait... not bad.

As of now...

Apple Store UK is showing 7 to 10 business days...

....it sounds very long, but honestly, Apple tend to under promise, but over deliver.

In other words, you are likely to save yourself alot of energy and time, and get it probably within a week, or may possibly get it sooner.

The amount of stuff i've ordered directly from Apple with silly shipping dates, and yet got them much much sooner, I cannot tell you.

/good luck.

I haven't had any luck from online ordering. Ordered a 32G 3G iPad on 6th June with an estimated shipping date of 19 June and delivery date of 21 June. Have been checking frequently since then and even called Apple Customer Services on Saturday. They asked me to keep checking and wait. Hope I get it soon.

Had enough and ordered online. 10 days is my estimated shipping (a week on Monday) but it might come sooner. Just a thought, if the apple store does call before can I cancel the online order before it has shipped?

Well, I'm happily typing this on my new iPad, it I nearly wasn't!

Got home from work with my nice new toy, opened it to find a scratch on the bezel , more like a chip actually!

So dashed back to Brent Cross half hour before closing and checked another one which had another 'imperfection' and then third time lucky!

I'm really lucky i went back when I did and they had the stock.

Turns out the girl who sold it to me should have checked it when I collected!

Better check that a mail ordered unit can still be returned to store.

If your on line order is still showing unshipped you should be able to cancel.

Good luck!

Yes, just cancel whichever one is ready first. You can reserve at multiple stores btw, you just need multiple AppleID's.

Shop called - got my ipad now and cancelled online! Yipee - just waiting for my dodo case to arrive now!
