iPad in NYC - Having no luck...

I'm trying to get an iPad in NYC, and all I see are sold out Best Buy stores and Apple Stores with no available stock (any shipments are already promised to folks on the priority list). I did order one from the online store but am being told it won't arrive until Aug 5th. If I can find one before then, I'd obviously prefer that...

Does anyone have any advice? i.e. when Best Buy stores tend to get re-stocked, or Apple Stores that may have shorter waitlists or more stock?
 
Did you try the Palisades Mall? It's just over the Tappan Zee Bridge. Also, maybe you can try some New Jersey Apple Stores. This is assuming you have access to a car.
 
Have you checked for other authorized resellers besides the two obvious ones? I'm still on the best buy list that I signed up on two months ago. We found mine in Chicago from an electronics store I'd never heard of (but was on Apple's site) after calling a few places. You might want to try that even if you're on a list in case you can find one sooner.
 
well I am not having any luck at NYC as well.
I am visiting new york until this wednesday afternoon and than heading back to europe, I am on the reservation list for the store on broadway, but no replies until now.

does anyone knows a place where I can get one? :(
or perhaps an unused reservation?

Did you try these all in NYC? They're authorized resellers listed at Apple.com who sell Ipads. Have you plugged in your zip for the closest ones?

Most people flock to BB and Apple, and don't think of other stores. There's a little apple reseller up here that has ipads because they don't know anyone else carries it.
 
Order from Apple directly or get on the Apple Store waiting list. I was trying to find one forever in my area and got fed up.
 
Got on waiting list at Fifth Ave on July 14 for a 64 GB 3G. Just received the pickup email. Wait time: 6 days.

Best Buy and Tekserve usually has better stock than the Apple Stores.

Thank you so much - I called Mike's Tech Shop and they had a few in stock. Hours later, the iPad was mine. (And they are definitely worth a shot to anyone in the NY area still looking) Thanks to all!

Come on out to long island, walked into bestbuy in Levittown a few days ago and walked out with a 64g 3G, the only one they didnt have was the 32g 3G, i was there for something else but once i picked one up i had to get it...

I picked one up at Palisades recently, and was there this past weekend and they had some in stock (not sure which models)

I also got one from the Tice's Corner Apple Store in Woodcliff Lake NJ (about 15mins from palisades) and I was just there yesterday and they had in stock, because people were buying them and they didnt have the big 'reserved' stickers
