iPad in Spain

Hey hope all is well,
My grandparents are coming in from england to visit.
They want to get an Ipad while they are here.
They plan to use it when they are on holiday in Spain.

If they get a 3g one will they be able to get a microsim in Spain? Will it just work? has anyone done this already? Any advice would be great.
