Never thought about that....they'll be released at 5 at the Apple stores--I wonder if the Best Buy stores plan on doing the same thing? Looks like i'll be stopping by one on my way to the Apple store!!
(then again, the smaller storage models always go before the higher ones--something tells me I have nothing to worry about--but I won't be a happy camper if I'm wrong--so I WILL be there way before--just in case.)

Will the ipad launch be like game console launches? Where if you don't buy one launch day, you won't find one at all for a few months unless you overpay on ebay?

First week I was netting $110 per iPad. Now I am netting around $60-$75 per. Still not bad. Pays for the gas and groceries.

Right but the first week was not a week where Apple had to admit there were supply issues. Now did they? With the 3G launch I'm thinking you may find yourself surprised if you get in line at 5 AM or whatever time you get in line and find yourself c-blocked by some Apple employee.

I did not say that you weren't netting a pretty penny there champ, $110 is not worth my time or energy to buy one iPad and sell it on eBay. The time spent taking off work/gas/personal time of awesomeness ... I just can't see $110 being worth it. OTOH, if you gave me a few iPads to sell then it'd be worth it.

Thats how the wifi model has been for me here in IL ever since launch day. Like a fricken ghost town.. No one has them. It's the Wii all over again

Well I dont know how much money you make but an extra $1000 a week is good money. And it takes me 5 minutes to list the item. 5 minutes to box it. Post office is on my way to work. But to each their own.

I never said $1000 is not a lot of money. Kudos for completely missing the point. You could be a bullet point man so let's try it more simply put. If I go to buy an iPad 3G on launch day and I can only buy one then the time it takes to go there, buy it, come back and sell it, then ship it and hope for the best (it is eBay after all) is not worth $110. However, (the point you missed) give me a few iPads the day the 3G is available to buy (a few that I can buy in one trip) then yes, it is fully worth it.

I commend you on your actions (if it helps me to stroke your ego) and I for one love that you're making extra money off people who don't want to to wait and pay regular price. Capitalizing off someone's impatience and stupidity is the American way and I raise a flag to that my man!

likely plenty of 64gb available, but I doubt you will be able to get 16gb as a walk in.
Reason being...?

I'm still on the fence between a 16 and a 32 and I would much rather have the option at the Store on Friday than being left with one or the other.

Ok gotcha. Yes I am buying multiple at a time. Not just one.

See point #1. ;)

Re: the 64 gb, I believe people may not find value in the 64 Gb 3G model. For a few bucks more you can buy a laptop. At least that is how I feel.

I could be absolutely wrong, I hope so for your sake. It could be less of a crowd then the wifi launch... Just a lot of signs point to it being bigger.
These ebay jackholes are gonna be scoopin em up again now that the international launch is delayed too..
Good Luck!

I agree with you...I think the 3g launch could potentially be larger. You have tons of folks who have been desperately waiting for the 3g release. You also have the folks who bought wi-fi units and will be waiting in line to exchange their purchase for a 3g unit.

Because, the three BB's I went to sold out the 16gb in the morning and had plenty of 64gb left and a few 32gb left.

I am sure it is the same way everywhere.

The PR I saw said 5 PM not AM. I figured the reason was so that all the pre-orders will have likely arrived by then.

I have no idea when to go. I am going to the Mall of America, so worst case I get there early and wander around the mall a bit. ;)

Ok. Hopefully the Apple Store gets enough 16/32 in stock to handle a good bit of the demand, and by demand I mean those 200 or so who will camp/line up in front of the store well before noon as well as the reserves.

Sarcasm is great!

Don't get me wrong, time travel is very interesting, and sarcasm is always worth noting, but this is and a few of the posts like it are what I was wondering about...

I am actually one of the ones that did just that- bought the wifi, and now want 3G. No it wasn't because I was impatient, no i didn't try to take it back saying it had bad wifi... Prior to buying, I went back and forth on which one I wanted. I had my mind made up that wifi would be enough. So, I simply bought it, and realized that in my day-to-day usage that the 3G model would be better suited for my travel.

Now patience does play into it, as does time. Like many on here, I have to travel a decent distance to an Apple store. I am more than willing to make the trip- was there at 0430 on 4/3, and will regardless of the speculation!

I plan to casually waltz in to my local Apple store on Friday after 5:00 and pick one up without issues. Living in the boonies (Louisville, KY) has its benefits since our local store never seem to be sold out of anything on the launch days. :D

can I still go to the apple store and reserve one for friday to pick up? i want a 64GB G3 one.

well, i come buy an apple store today and ask directly.

there are only 9 apple stores within 45min driving. three of them are in less than 20 min driving. one is 5 min from work. one is in walking distance from home. i'm doomed.:(

i called my apple store today and they said they were not allowing people to reserve the 3g iPads.

I'm hoping the previous release of the wifi iPad will cut down on demand for the 3G. The 3G versions are also more expensive, which will keep a lot of people away.

An Apple store employee told me that they had iPads the entire weekend after the wifi launch so that's encouraging. However, that's in NYC with 5 Applestores.
