Not sure what happened. Maybe I was hitting some keys too much when I was cleaning the iPad Pro and the Keyboard Folio but then I got a message „iPad is disabled“ Try again in 1 minute. For a whole 1 minute my iPad locked me out. Not end of the world but still, WTF?

There‘s already a keylock and face-Id, why would it lock me out like this?

Most probably keylock was activated and you entered few (I think it was 3 but I might be wrong) times wrong passwords. As a result you saw this message that the iPad is disabled for a minute.

In the future, I'd recommend you keep your iPad off while cleaning it.

You triggered a safety mechanism that makes anything after three or four failed passcode attempts take longer to give the potential thief a hard time.
If I remember correctly this is standard behaviour on iOS for what, a decade?

Its a safety feature that exists in iOS since 2009... when you enter wrong password too many times it will lock... if you still putting the incorrect code it will lock for a longer time.

Re: lock-out times: from the iOS security white paper:

Delays between passcode attempts

Attempts Delay Enforced
1–4 none
5 1 minute
6 5 minutes
7–8 15 minutes
9 1hour
