Hope someone can help. I bought an iPad from someone that needed some cash so I got a really good deal. Anyway it was jailbroken with cydia and Installous. Now my problem is, having it a couple of weeks, I'm starting to get update notices for several programs the previous owner had installed. When I go to iTunes to update, it shows the previous owners user name and asks for his password. Well I deleted the program, and reloaded with my account. Now a week later, there is ANOTHER upgrade and when I go to iTunes to upgrade, it is asking for his information again! Before I downloaded the new program, I made sure my account information was at the bottom of the iTunes page. I really don't want to have to completely wipe and jailbreak again. And I can't get in touch with the previous owner to have him sign out of his account. Any help would be appreciated.

Jeff

You could do a backup then wipe it from the iPad itself and after re-initializing it restore your data.

Not sure how this will work with a Jailbroken device.

So that I can try the programs before I buy them from iTunes.

I was just hoping that "His" apps wouldn't reload with a restore from iTunes. Guess I will wipe it.

Thanks for your help.

Just wipe it and do a "set up as new" instead of a restore if it keeps acting that way. You will lose your app data - but if it is going to continue to do things with his account then well, you don't have a choice!

I have both a US and UK iTunes account. When an app needs updating for the US account i have to sign in with that one and vice versa for the UK account.

But those apps are locked to those accounts.

It is the same with the iPad you bought. You bought the iPad but not the apps on it. Now you can use those apps no problem but if you want to update them then you need to buy them under your own account.

Unless you need to have a jailbroken iPad then do a restore and set up as a new iPad then install YOUR apps on it that YOU have purchased. Problem solved.

I'm gonna restore it, but I did have a problem thought I would just share. One of the programs I have a problem with is the "Free" Facebook APP. It asked for an update, I clicked to update it and it asked for the previous owners password. I deleted the APP, went back to the App store and downloaded again making sure my account was showing at the bottom. Now a couple weeks had passed, I got notification of another Facebook update, went to update it and it asked for "HIS" password again! Not sure what the issue there is. Oh well. Thanks for all the input! Jeff

Why are you using the Facebook App on the iPad anyway? Not written for the iPad and using Safari with Facebook is a doddle.
