iPad keyboard backspace without erasing

Does the iPad keyboard have anyway to move the cursor around a block of text for editing purposes? All I see is a destructive delete button.

dude, just touch and hold the cursor, and drag it to where you want it. a magnifying glass will help you see where you're putting the cursor.
