iPad Pro iPad line will never get an M1 CPU

A Class CPUs are for its Phones and its Tablets
M Class CPUs are for its Laptops and MacMini
X Class CPUs are for its Desktops and WorkStations (upcoming Launch in 2023)

The IPad Pro line in my humble opinion will continue to use A class CPUs so Apple can maintain its volume discount with TSMC. However Samsung May take over M1 production since 5nm production at TSMC is at peak. And Apple will need someone to produce the X Class CPUs and Samsung has proven itself and scaled up capacity thanks to the deal with NVIDIA to make the RTX 3080 and 3090 chips.

Then again, the iPad Pro is a low-volume product in comparison to the iPhones. It would be a nice move though, making the iPad Pro truly "pro" and setting it apart from the iPad (A-chips) and iPad Air (AX-chips) line.

Thank you for reminding me, it’s a Low volume product. We are fortunate that we even get a dedicated A12X but that won’t be for long as the A Class CPUs like the A14 already outclass the A12X and A12Z.

Well... I look forward to comparing the benchmarks of the A14Z?X? and my 2018 iPad 11 Pro and the M1 (I do not own, just from pure curiosity). Not only do we get to enjoy great Apple hardware but these CPUs are a lot of fun to watch as well. I guess we'll have to wait till March?

Pro is a marketing term. It doesn’t get more professional, profilic or more prostate if any of those is your perception of what pro means. And with the A-X variants it has been very quick already.

Exactly... A14X will very likely have the same performance as M1 (since M1 is to A14 what A12X/Y was to A12), just a couple of Mac specific things less. Very likely therefore that entry level Macs and top of the line iPad will have the same performance. Larger macbooks and desktops Mac will have a higher tier SOCs with more cores, and who knows, maybe even dedicated GPUs at some point. Whoever manufcaturers the chips is virtually irrelevant for users, Apple is the one that designs them. As for future names, at this point it's just speculation....
